Hippopotamus Restaurants, Negroni, Yum Cha, Upper Crust

Photo: LUCIANO BUSANI The area dedicated to food in Terminal 2 at the International Liszt Ferenc Airport in Budapest was entirely designed, in terms of the interior designing and technical equipment, by the T-W Interiors studio with headquarters in Prague since 1991. The project involved a number of different restaurants, coffee shops and bars and was completed in 2012. Paying great attention to maintain the unique aspects of the different brands, the design studio chose to use Ceramica Vogue Italian glazed ceramics for all of the tiled areas. The different sized solid coloured tiles lent themselves exceptionally well to this type of project, as they were able to meet all the diverse aesthetic and technical requirements. For example, for the restaurant belonging to the Hippopotamus chain, a bold tiling option measuring 5x5 cm in the colour TR Ghiaccio with a glossy finish from the Trasparenze collection, was chosen for the area behind the bar, while for the kitchens, where requirements regarding both cleanability and safety are fundamental, matte tiles measuring 10x10 cm in the colour IN Rosso were used for the walls and classic 20x20 cm tiles were used for the floors, a non-slip solution with a technical finish from the Flooring, RF Seta collection. For the Negroni restaurant, the walls and large oven where the pizzas are cooked was tiled using 10x20 cm rectangular black glossy tiles with contrasting grouting, a choice that creates a warm, familiar and typically traditional ambient within the space. Rectangular tiles measuring 5x20 cm in the warm and vibrant colour TR Seta create the backdrop for the celebrated baguettes sold at the Upper Crust chain, while elegant rectangular glossy tiles in TR Nero and laid in a staggered pattern were used for Chinese culinary chain Yum Cha.
