Design: STUDIO ELT Photo: FRANCESCO SEMMOLA An example of a modern and functional re-qualification project, the hotel Poseidon is one of the most interesting hotel structures on the Neapolitan coast. StudioElt, a prestigious Naples architectural studio, has designed an ambitious restoration project close to the port town for two old silos that were once used to deposit corn. Considering the advantageous position close to the historic town centre, station and sea, it would have been a real shame not to make the most of this opportunity and instead allow the site to fall into disrepair. The two twin buildings are the focal point of a long and complicated industrial re-qualification project, which would see the construction of the hotel Mercure Poseidon right at their very centre. The project maintains the volumes and structure of the two towers that have been re-interpreted by the architects, who took inspiration from the local tradition tied to the past, sea and coral. These were the principal themes for the re-qualification of the area and the Poseidon hotel, where the variety and alternation of shapes create an unusual ambient in motion. The seven floors feature the same number of different shaped circular holes that lead to the hotel room distribution and communal areas, providing all of the spaces with plenty of light. The sea is represented all around at the hotel Poseidon and the colours chosen for the tiles, which chromatically evoke marine splendour, are further testimony to this. The decision taken by StudioElt to use Ceramica Vogue glazed stoneware tiles for the Poseidon Hotel, stems principally from the quality of the product and the vast range of colour shades available in the catalogue. The Vogue IN tile collection is characterised by an enviable colour palette and premium quality raw materials, which translate into an end product with outstanding characteristics. StudioElt chose bathroom tiles from this line in three different colours: IN Corallo, IN Pompelmo and IN Cielo, all with a satin finish and measuring 20x40 cm. This decision was dictated by a desire to customise the hotel room bathrooms on each floor, providing each with its own personality and distinctive features. The solid coloured tiles are of great decorative value and provide both luminosity and character. Ceramica Vogue is always on the lookout for outstanding solutions to satisfy its customers: the company’s Italian-made tiles are only supplied to the customer after being subjected to a meticulous testing process and undergoing various quality checks. Ceramica Vogue tiles are perfectly at home in the Hotel Poseidon.
